Utility to Sponsor Educational Touring Theater Show

Boomerang Jack and the Unseen Green Machine’ explores renewable energy

New Richmond Utilities is sponsoring a touring theater show designed to educate young students about renewable resources.

The fast-paced, educational program called “Boomerang Jack and the Unseen Green Machine” engages elementary school students in the subject of renewable energy by encouraging audience participation and presenting lessons in a manner that children enjoy.

Produced by The National Theatre for Children, a Minnesota-based national touring company, the “Booomerang Jack” program uses colorful sets and characters in humorous situations to teach students about the concepts and importance of conserving energy and playing it safe around electricity.

In the program, reporter Aberdeen Jean is onto the story of a lifetime when she works to uncover the deeds of The Great Waster, an evil villain who is wasting energy all over town. With help from Professor Whatshisname and adventure hunter and renewable resources expert Boomerang Jack, Aberdeen Jean learns all she needs to know to confront the Great Waster and make a cleaner, safer environment.

To reinforce the energy conservation and renewable resources messages in “Boomerang Jack,” NTC supplies teachers with follow-up educational materials for use in the classroom.

Students will also receive a take-home renewable energy-themed activity book, compliments of New Richmond Utilities’ power supplier, Wisconsin Public Power Inc. The activity packet also includes an opportunity for parents to sign up to purchase monthly blocks of green energy through the utility’s Renewable Energy Program.

Local performances are scheduled for:
• January 21 at St Mary’s School at 1:00 p.m.
• January 25 at East Elementary at 9:00 a.m..
• January 25 for West Elementary at 10:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. in the High School small theatre.
